Division Chief, Hawaii Island Division

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Deputy Executive Director, this position is responsible for the island division daily operations, including overseeing field services and administration, managing division’s operating budget, fiscal operations, division programs, and building facilities, supervising and training staff, administering contracts, legislative and political action programs, educating member groups, and developing and maintaining professional relationships. This position is also responsible for planning, developing, and recommending new programs and implementing approved programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor degree from an accredited college of university and more than five (5) years of professional work experience in labor and employee relations and two (2) years of management level experience in government and/or similar business operations. 

Candidate must be highly organized, people-oriented, and effective communicator (both in writing and verbally). Able to lead and direct competing projects and programs to achieve deadlines; demonstrate strong leadership, analytical, problem resolving, and facilitation skills. Able to travel to and from various locations, work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, possess a valid Hawaii Driver’s License and use of personal vehicle for business purposes. Has knowledge of union principles and operations, and government structures, operations and systems.
