Contract Negotiations Update: Supplemental agreement for Maui County employees

Because Maui County budgeted to pay employees at 2009 salary rates, HGEA expected that Mayor Alan Arakawa would attempt to negotiate different terms for their supplemental agreement for the 2011-2013 contract.
Mayor Arakawa proposed no pay increase, no pay cut and no supplemental time off for Maui County employees. Effective July 1, 2011, employees’ salaries returned to the 2009 rate. However, the mayor will adhere to the master agreement and implement the 50/50 (employer/employee) split in the EUTF health insurance premiums.
