Security of Your Personal Information
HGEA is committed to helping protect the security of your personal information. We use a variety of
security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access,
use, or disclosure. For example, we store the personal information you provide on computer servers located
in controlled facilities. Your information is secured by unique usernames, passwords, and pins. Additionally,
effective August 1, 2003, when we transmit sensitive personal information over the Internet, we help
protect it through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.
Use of Your Personal Information
The personal information we collect from you will be used by HGEA to provide the service or carry out
the transaction you have requested or authorized. This may include using the personal information for
the following purposes:
- To provide you with important information about the service that you are using, including critical
updates and notifications.
- To make a site or service easier to use by eliminating the need for you to repeatedly enter the same
information or by customizing the site or service to your particular interests or preferences.
- To improve the service and to provide excellent service to HGEA members.
Except as described below, HGEA does not transfer your personal information to third parties without
your consent. We occasionally contract with other companies to provide limited services on our behalf.
We will only provide those companies the personal information they need to deliver the service, and
they are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose.
HGEA may disclose personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that
such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of thelaw or comply with legal process served
on HGEA or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of HGEA, or (c) act in urgent circumstances
to protect the personal safety of HGEA employees, users of HGEA services, or members of the public.
